Registering with University of Vienna

University Registration

There are a number of documents that are required for students registering with the University of Vienna, which are as follows:

(All documents are required in German or English, note that documents should be translated before any legalization

  • Copy of Passport, with visa if non-EU 
  • University degree certificate (original or certified copy) and transcript of your studies 
  • Letter from your university stating when you studied, and that your degree is sufficient to begin a PhD in your home country 
  • Diploma thesis / final year-project write-up (if it is not written in English, please translate the abstract into English) 
  • Passport photo for your student card (after successful registration)
  • Completed pre-application online (here) - THIS SHOULD BE DONE FIRST!

Students must be registered with the University throughout their time of study. There are 2 semesters a year, and the registration deadline for the semester is a month before it starts. You are only officially allowed to gain credit points while you are a registered student. 

Christopher Robinson (for IMP, IMBA and GMI) and supervisor/institute secretariat (for University students) will collect the documents and forward them to the University of Vienna for processing.
